Often referred to as the backbone of America’s economy, truckers have pleaded for better wellness practices for decades. The African American Women Trucking Association (AAWTA) is determined to make mental and physical wellness a top priority for every trucker on the road.

At its second annual Highway to Wellness: Trucker’s Health Summit in Atlanta on Aug. 29, 2024, AAWTA shared wellness resources available for drivers across Georgia. The resources included blood pressure testing, IV drip therapy, mental health informational pamphlets and gift bags filled with personal care items to use on the road. The summit hosted speakers who shared their stories of life behind the wheel.
