Two opposing advocacy groups clashed before the Cobb County School Board meeting on Thursday, Sept. 19. Moms for Liberty, a conservative parental rights group, held a press conference supporting the controversial book removals in Cobb’s public schools.
In contrast, members of Moms Demand Action, a gun-control advocacy group, held a moment of silence before the press conference to honor the four victims of the Apalachee School Shooting. Cobb parents have been trying to get a school safety measure implemented for years, but the school board has not yet brought it to the table.
The two events occurred at the same time but were unrelated to each other. Fresh Take Georgia’s Emma Buker has the story in this video.
